What information should you know before contacting a Bail Agent?
If someone contacts you from jail to arrange bail, you will need to ask for specific information so that you will be prepared when you contact a bail bondsman.
There is certain information that a Bail Bondsman will need in order to help you secure a bond:
1. Where is the person in custody?
Make sure that you ask the person in custody where they are located – we will need to know the City, State and Name of Jail facility where the person is being held.
2. What is the full name and booking number of person in Jail?
The Bail Agent will need to know the accused full name in order to contact the jail. Having the booking number would be helpful to the bail agent, but they can get the number if you forgot or if it was not available.
3. How much is the bail amount set at?
The Bail Agent will be able to get this information when they contact the Jail if you do not have it. However if you have this information available when you contact the bail bondsman, then he or she would be able to tell you how much the bail bond will cost.
